What is Larne DPP?
Larne District Policing Partnership was formally established in March 2003 and is a partnership between Larne Borough Council and representatives from the wider community. It is independent from the Police Service of Northern Ireland. Larne DPP consists of eight elected councillors nominated by the Council and seven independent members, all coming from diverse backgrounds. They bring with them a wealth of experience, knowledge and visions for the future of policing in Northern Ireland.
How will the Larne DPP benefit you?
Larne DPP provides all residents of the Borough with a unique opportunity to shape local policing. The Larne DPP will act as a mechanism through which the public can question Larne’s PSNI District Commander on the policing of the Borough and make recommendations for positive actions.
Meetings of the Larne DPP
Larne DPP will hold a minimum of six public meetings a year. Residents of the Borough are invited, through public advertisements, to attend the meetings, which are held at local venues throughout the area.
At each meeting the PSNI District Commander will present a report outlining key aspects of policing throughout the Borough. Larne DPP members will then question the Commander in respect of his report and monitor the performance of the police against the targets set out in the local policing plan.
Public Opinion
As residents of the Borough of Larne you can play a major role in the success of the Larne DPP. Larne DPP will be carrying out a consultative process throughout the year, asking for your views on policing issues throughout the Borough. Both the PSNI and DPP will use the information to formulate Larne’s local policing plan.
Information will be gathered in the following ways:
- A public consultation survey every two years.
- Public Consultative Forum Meetings.
- Focus Group Sessions.
- Ongoing consultation with the local Community Police Liaison
- Committees and Community Forums with an interest in policing Issues
