Eating FAQ's
Q. If it's raining can we eat our own food within the Coffee Shop or Snack Stop?
A. No. As these buildings are privately operated by our catering franchisee, Caffe Spice, only their customers are permitted to eat within the premises.
Q. Can I book the Coffee Shop or Snack Stop for a private group?
A. Caffe Spice are happy to arrange catering for group bookings and offer group discounts, with prices available on enquiry. However they cannot guarantee seating as it is not possible to reserve tables.
Q. Can we arrange an outside caterer to cook our BBQ?
A. Yes. However due to limited onsite washing and food preparation facilities we recommend that our catering franchisee, Caffe Spice be used. They are happy to discuss cooking for any function including BBQ’s. Please be aware that any private caterer that you use must supply adequate public liability insurance.
Q. Can we sell food from our BBQ?
A. No. We understand that on occasion some groups use our BBQ areas for charity fund raising events. However food hygiene regulations and our onsite private catering franchise, means no food may be resold to the general public within Carnfunnock Country Park.
Q. Can we bring along our own gas BBQ?
A. Gas BBQ’s are only permitted by groups within formally booked and paid for BBQ areas (excluding those within close proximity to buildings e.g. Visitor Centre veranda although this may be permitted on grass area adjacent to Giant Bird Tables) provided they comply with health and safety requirements and the equipment has been certified and maintained to a high standard.
Q. Can we erect a gazebo or shelter?
A. A gazebo or shelter is only permitted in formally booked and paid for BBQ areas. This permission is on the proviso that it is securely pegged or weighted down and that safety precautions are taken to ensure that there are no tripping or fire hazards.
Q. Can park staff light our BBQ for us?
A. Unfortunately individuals hiring bbqs within the park are responsible for lighting their own BBQ's. Please allow adequate time for lighting - normally 45 minutes prior to commencing cooking. Remember to bring along all lighting materials and cooking equipment. (Please see our BBQ information leaflet for further details).
Q. Can we do our own catering within the Education Centre?
A. Individuals hiring the education centre may bring along their own refreshments, provided these are not resold. A kettle or hot flasks of water can be provided for use.
Q. Can we arrange external catering for our meeting within the Education Centre?
A. From March to October, when the Coffee Shop is operational daily, Caffe Spice undertake Education Centre catering. Outside this period private caterers are permitted to supply hot food to meetings, provided they have adquate public liability insurance and adhere to high standards of food service. Park staff can also supply general refreshments all year round e.g. tea, coffee, biscuits.
