Caravan Park & Camp Site FAQ's
Q. When booking can we select our caravan pitch?
A. Yes. On checking online availability you can select a preferred site, based on your specified requirements and availability. Alternatively if you are booking in person or by telephone, staff can advise you of pitch availability. The selected site will however not be guaranteed until payment has been received. Once payment has been made you will receive an email confirming your booking and site number. A layout map of the caravan pitches can be found by clicking here.
Q. Once we've booked our site can we change our mind and move to another site?
A. No. Since all customers have their pitch allocation specified on their booking receipt, staff cannot relocate customers unless there is another site unoccupied for the duration of the intended stay. Customers who have a special requirement to be close to the amenity block should however speak to staff directly.
Q. If the dates we want to stay appear fully booked but I can find availability for individual nights should I make individual bookings?
A. Please DO NOT make multiple bookings, unless you are prepared to move pitches throughout your stay, as each booking will have a different pitch allocation.
Q. Do you accommodate awnings?
A. Yes. 21 of our 31 serviced hard stand pitches have dedicated concrete awning bases. These bases are a standard size of 3 metres x 2 metres, to allow for pegging down both larger and smaller awnings. We request that at night campers with larger awnings lift any part of their ground sheet that has direct contact with grass, in order to minimise any perimeter ground damage. Wardens reserve the right to request that campers lift their ground sheets accordingly. Currently there is no additional charge for erecting awnings. If campers wish to erect an awning then this must be indicated at the time of booking, in order to allocate an appropriate pitch.
Q. Do you hire out caravans?
A. No – the nearest location for static caravan hire is Silvercliffs Holiday Village, 21 Clare Road, Ballycastle Tel: 028 2076 2550 Email: david@haganleisure.co.uk They can be contacted Monday - Friday 9.00-17.30 and Saturday to Sunday 10.00-17.30.
Q. How far are you from Larne Harbour?
A. We are about 4 miles from Larne Harbour. Follow the brown sign posting for the Coastal route (A2) and you will then find signage for Carnfunnock Country Park.
Q. If you are fully booked, where are the closest touring Caravan Parks to Carnfunnock?
A. If you are heading towards Larne along the Coast Road (A2) then the nearest site is Curran Caravan Park, 131 Curran Road, Larne (Tel: 028 2827 3797) which is 3 miles from the Park or Browns Bay Caravan Park, Browns Bay Road, Islandmagee. (Tel. Larne Tourist Information Centre: 028 2826 0088).
If you are heading from Larne along the Coast Road (A2) then the nearest site is Glenariff Forest Campsite (Tel: 028 2955 6000)
Q. Where can we purchase gas or camping equipment?
A. Gas and camping equipment is not available onsite. However the nearest retailer of camping provisions is Argos at Unit 10, Laharna Retail Park, 63 Circular Road, Larne BT40 1JS. (Tel: 0845 6403030) They are open Monday to Wednesday 9.00-17.30, Thursday to Friday 9.00-9.00pm, Saturday 9.00-5.30 and Sunday 1.00-5.00pm.
Q. Can we set up a tent beside our caravan?
A. Only small dog tents are permitted adjacent to caravans. Small tents can be erected within awnings however it is our policy to charge for all tents erected within grass areas of the site. We have a dedicated area for tents which is located opposite the amenity block.
Q. Where is the nearest shop?
A. The closest grocery shop is the Glenarm Road filling station, on route from Carnfunnock to Larne town or the Viking Spar on the Old Glenarm Road, opposite the Caterpillar generator factory. There is also a spar in Ballygally and numerous grocery stores within Larne town centre e.g. Co-Op, Dunnes Stores, Lidl, ASDA, Iceland etc.
