Building Control
Introduction
Welcome to the web pages of the Building Control Service.
The Staff
The Building Control Service is staffed with experienced and appropriately qualified personnel. All staff undergo suitable training every year to allow them to continue with their professional development and to ensure that they have the necessary skills and up to date knowledge to provide a high quality service to our clients and the general public.
The Building Control Surveyors generally work within specified areas of the Borough. This allows them to become very familiar with their particular area and build up a unique knowledge relating to matters such as site history and ground conditions.Refer to the contacts page for surveyor details.

ISO Accreditation
On the 15TH February 2010 we received registration for our Building Control Service from NQA. The registration confirms that found the Quality Management System operated by us fully met the requirements of the international standard BS EN ISO 9001.
To achieve this registration the team had to demonstrate compliance through our documented quality manual, technical and administration procedures. These procedures were rigorously checked and audited by NQA during an assessment of the system, held over a period of 2 days.
Accreditation of the system is not the end of NQA's involvement. Every 6 months they will visit and check that the system is being managed correctly. Through this continual assessment of the system we intend to further develop and improve the service to our customers.
There are other substantial benefits from gaining accreditation:
-
Improved consistency of service performance and hence higher customer satisfaction.
-
Improved customer perception of Building Control's image and performance.
-
Improved communication, moral and job satisfaction.
All of our Team have shown total commitment to the initiative as we believe that by having the system accredited, by a reputable third party, it demonstrates that we provide a service that is "best value".
