Dixon Park
Dixon Park is a 2-hectare urban park located in the heart of Larne, positioned between housing on Edward Avenue, Bryan Street and Ronald Street.
It is primarily an open green space area with a children's playground and for over 70 years has provided a secluded park to relax and enjoy the natural environment away from the stresses of everyday life. (Click here for further information on its history)
The park is designed in a rectangular pattern with footpaths winding through the area servicing 4 entrances, which make it easily accessible from all directions. The main entrance extends from the Roddens and was originally approached by wrought iron gates. There is no provision for a car park but parking is available on the nearby streets.
It is a park of open aspect; tree lined, and interspersed with informal flower, rose and shrub beds. Many of the mature trees are typical of parkland plantings in the 1930’s with a predominance of lime.
