Schools Exchange Programme
The Ulster American Society of Larne and York County Council have been instrumental in bringing together schools in both areas in an exciting project which aims to improve opportunities for young people in both our areas.
Principals and teachers from all of Larne's secondary schools have taken the opportunity of visiting schools in York County where they spent time with local teachers and pupils in a class room situation, studying best practice and learning about the American education system. In return a reciprocal visit was paid by teachers from York County to local schools when a similar study programme was undertaken.
Our local schools have benefitted greatly from the programme and along with their colleagues in York County are currently working on education based programmes which will bring opportunities to young people to work together in areas of mutual interest or long term, may provide travel opportunities to pupils from both council districts.
