Larne Borough Sports Awards 2008
Larne Borough Sports Forum played host to the 3rd Larne Borough Sports Awards on Wednesday 25 February 2009 and were delighted to welcome Steve Cram MBE, former World, Commonwealth, European Champion and World Record Holder to McNeill Theatre as their guest speaker. The aim of the event was to recognise and reward the sporting achievements of the people of the Borough of Larne during 2008 and the evening was hailed as a resounding success by all of the 180 guests in attendance.
The evening began with a champagne drinks reception for all guests followed by a warm welcome from Awards Host, BBC Sport’s Jackie Fullerton, Mayor Bobby McKee MBE and Sports Forum Chairman Councillor Martin Wilson. A question and answer session with Steve Cram provided some light entertainment and an insight into the life of an elite athlete and now successful TV presenter.
A 4 course meal proceeded the main event of the Presentation of the 9 Award Categories and a closing address of thanks to all involved from Mrs Geraldine McGahey, Chief Executive of Larne Borough Council.
