Grants and Support

The Sports Development Unit are available to advise clubs and groups on potential funding opportunities. Larne Borough Council offer support through; 

'Supporting Sport'

Supporting Sport is a small grant fund that is designed to provide local individuals and sports clubs with financial assistance. Supporting Sport Scheme has four categories:

Coaching Courses – to assist individuals in gaining a recognised sports specific (ie does not apply to generic courses funded by Council) coaching qualification.

Excellence – to assist with costs for individuals who are representing the Borough through selection for a specific event or competition at County level and above.

Sports Events – to assist clubs with the organisation of sports events which are of provincial, national or International standard.

New Clubs – to assist new clubs in their initial start up costs with a seeding grant. A new club is defined as one that has been in existence for less than 18 months prior to the date of application.

 

'Gold Card'

Gold Card Scheme aims to assist local sporting talent that have achieved recognition in the form of National, Provincial or County squads, or are National or Provincial Champions in their chosen sport. Successful applications will be admitted to the scheme and will be permitted to use agreed recreation facilities owned and managed by Larne Borough Council on a concessionary basis.

Awards for Sport

Awards for Sport (Northern Ireland) is supported by and administed by Sport NI. Awards for Sport can offer grants of between £500 and £10,000 for people to take part in sport. For further info please go to www.sportni.net
