May Bank Holiday Mischief 2013

On Friday 3rd May at 8.00pm there is the opportunity to go a bit batty and discover Northern Ireland's only flying mammals zipping around Carnfunnock.  Let Robin Moffitt of the NI Bat Group tell you all about bats on our Bat Night before venturing outside armed with torches and bat detectors!  Price:  £4.00 adult, £3.50 child/concession inc. light refreshments.  Please wear appropriate clothing / footwear and bring torches.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.

On Saturday 4th May from 2.00pm – 5.00pm Carnfunnock Country Park is pleased to announce the return of our annual Superdog event, as part of National Pet month.  This is your opportunity to bring your pooch along to take part in a novelty dog show and test their athleticism on a fun agility course. Beginners only please. There is a charge of £1 per class and all proceeds go to the Dogs Trust thanks to the Latharna Canine and Dog Training Club.

Sunday 5th May is International Dawn Chorus Day and Carnfunnock is the perfect place to come and witness the amazing sounds of the birds that are present in the park at this time of year.  If you want to know your sparrow from your finch then this is the event for you.  The event commences at 5.00am and there will be light refreshments for all those taking part.  Priced at £4.00 per adult and £3.50 per child/concession, booking is essential. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear.

Also on Sunday 5th May is Mr Hullabaloo’s Puppet Theatre.  Be utterly amazed at the antics of Mr Hullabaloo and his interactive theatre.  There will be 2 spring themed shows at 2.00pm & 3.30pm in the amphitheatre of our beautiful Walled Gardens.   Make sure the kids come along to see this Springtastic Show.

Finally on the May Bank Holiday Monday (6th May) visitors can enjoy a day in the park with birds of prey displays and magic shows taking place throughout the afternoon. Northern Ireland School of Falconry will have birds of prey on display from 1.00pm to 5.00pm with flying displays taking place at approx. 2.30pm, 3.30pm and 4.30pm. Magic shows will take place at approx2.00pm, 3.00pm and 4.00pm and this year will feature 'Louie the Entertainer' and his highly visual, energetic and baffling magic tricks.
