Autumnfest 2013 including Conker Championship
The holidays may be over and the children back to school but the fun doesn’t stop at Carnfunnock Country Park in Larne. Coming alive with the sights, sounds and smells of Autumn, the Park is proud to present its annual Autumnfest on Sunday 29th September 2013, from 1.00pm to 5pm.
Celebrating the wonders of this special season, the event promises to be a delightful afternoon for all the family. Within the Walled Garden there will be opportunities to see traditional countryside skills alongside a variety of stalls offering handicrafts and local produce. Why not visit the stalls and sample their wares or pick up a crafty gift for a loved one? Or see some of the skills which are slowly disappearing being demonstrated?
Weird and wonderful scarecrows will also be on display here, as part of the annual Carnfunnock Scarecrow competition. There are 3 entry categories - school groups, community groups and families. Judging will take place at 3.00pm.
There will also be opportunities to discover more about nature with experts on hand from local environmental groups and some amazing creatures! Not fogetting a visit to the NI Survival School's camp - a must for tips and demonstrations on wilderness survival skills.
The annual Carnfunnock Conker Championships will be back at this year’s event, bringing out the competitive side for children and adults alike. (Conker crop permitting) Conkers and rules will be supplied on the day and an entrant’s fee will apply. Registration is from 11.30am to 2.45pm at the Visitor Centre with heats commencing at 3.30pm and the finals being held at 4.30pm. (Subject to change) Competition rules and a registration form are downloadable below.
Standard car parking charges apply and normal activities will be in operation including the Family Fun Zone, Golf Driving Range and Academy, Caffé Spice and Facetastic.
