Chaine Park

Chaine Park, named in honour of James Chaine, who developed the sea route to Scotland, overlooks the North Channel and is an attractive spot from which to admire the magnificent views towards Scotland.
A visit to Chaine Park will bring you to the site of James Chaine’s burial place where it is said that he was buried in an upright position, dressed in his yachting attire, facing the sea which he so loved
The Chaine Memorial Tower was built in 1888 in memory of James Chaine whose vision for the harbour brought about significant changes and wealth to the town.
