Our Service
Our Service is efficient, professional, impartial and publicly accountable, with our performance being independently measured and compared with other Councils. Our team has extensive knowledge of the local environment, materials and construction methods.
We work to targeted application assessment deadlines, ensuring fast accurate plans analysis and give prompt replies to all correspondence. Certification is provided for all approved works.
We aim to assess domestic applications within 21 days and non-domestic applications within 35 days.
We carry out an inspection process at key construction stages to determine conformity with Building Regulations.
The Building Control Service is affiliated to the District Surveyors Association sharing a commitment to co-ordinated and uniform standards of service nationally, regionally and locally.
We have an extensive portfolio of professional and technical services.
These include:
- Building Regulations enforcement
- Dangerous Structures
- Postal Numbering and Street Naming
- Property Certificates
In addition to the above we also provide an Architectural Service, Planning Supervision, Building Surveying and Energy Management function for the Council. By using our services rather than external consultancy the Council delivers value to the ratepayer
Enforcement
We have a statutory duty to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations. Where enforcement becomes necessary, we follow the principles of the Enforcement Concordat. This lays down the principles of good enforcement policy and practice. The Concordat details what those regulated by Larne Borough Council can expect from us.

When works are on site we will provide you with a same day inspection where notification is given before 10.00am – However the more notice we get, the more likely it is that we can arrange a time that suits.
