Town Centre Partnership
PRESS RELEASE: October 16, 2009
Town Centre Partnership established
Following a public meeting on 14 October, a Town Centre Partnership for Larne has been established. Its role is to promote the interests of those who shop, work, invest and live in the town centre.
“An attractive and successful town centre will contribute to the overall well-being of the whole Borough,” Town Development Manager, Hazel Bell, said. “Everyone has something to contribute to making us all proud of our town centre; the Partnership is open to everyone who is passionate about helping to make positive changes.”
The Partnership brings together a wide range of people to make sure everyone is aware of what is happening in the town centre, to provide opportunities for people to pool their ideas, resources and skills, and to work collectively for the overall benefit of the town centre.
The Partnership will now turn its attention to creating a plan of action to make a positive difference to the town centre. Topping the list of ideas includes working together to tidy up the town centre, promoting civic pride and encouraging everyone to participate in the forthcoming public consultation for the Department for Social Development Masterplan for the Town Centre.
Participation in the Partnership is open to anyone who wishes to contribute; those who have already expressed an interest include local councillors, business owners, traders, developers, individuals as well as statutory agencies and bodies. Further information is available from the Town Development Office (28 26 3082).
