Home Accident Prevention

Who Are We?

We are a local group made up of representatives from statutory and voluntary organisations and interested members of the general public.  We work in partnership with other local groups and organisations in the borough of Larne.

So What Is Our Aim?

More accidents happen in the home than anywhere else.  Every year around 70,000 people in Northern Ireland have to go to hospital because of a home accident.  Every year over 70 of these home accidents result in a fatality!

In light of these shocking statistics and the fact that most accidents are preventable, our aim is to help to reduce the number of accidents that happen in the home by raising awareness of home safety and providing safety resources.

We focus on all types of accidents that occur in and around the home and target all ages, especially the under 5’s and over 65’s.

What Does Our HAP Group Provide?

Home Accident Prevention advice & information.
Talks to local groups about preventing home accidents.
Home Safety Check Schemes and the provision of safety equipment.
Interactive presentations.
Publicity and involvement in Home Safety initiatives.

We Need You!

We need people in the group who represent all areas of our community.  If you are interested in home accident prevention please think about joining HAP Larne.

You can make a real difference by bringing the home safety message into your own community.

Meetings take place on a bi-monthly basis in the Offices of Larne Borough Council, Smiley Buildings, Victoria Road, Larne.

For further information about the HAP group or Home Safety contact us on 028 2827 2313

Preventing Home Accidents

An accident can happen to anyone but older people and the very young are shown to be at the highest risk.
